On December 24 2024, China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Sino-heavymach for short) and Chinalco Southwest Aluminium (Group) Co., Ltd. (Southwest Aluminium for short) held the kick-off ceremony for the large-scale aluminum alloy extrusion construction project. Yang Lu, Deputy Managing Director of Southwest Aluminium, Wang Shechang, Deputy Managing Director of Sinomach-he and Chairman of Sino-heavymach, Jiangtao, Deputy Managing Director of Sinomach-he and Executive Deputy Managing Director of Erzhong, Qiu Mingjun, Managing Director of Sino-heavymach, the relevant responsible person from CNPT, and other companies attended this meeting.

Yang Lu presented the background and significance of this project, and recalled the cooperation history between two companies. He said that the construction of the world's largest tonnage of 250MN double-action direct extrusion press marks the beginning of a new chapter for Southwest Aluminium and Sino-heavymach to jointly serve the national strategy and achieve innovative development. Yang Lu hoped that all involved parties shall work together to build the 250MN double-action direct extrusion press into a classical, reputable, and honourable masterpiece, demonstrate new responsibilities and new actions in the process of new industrialization, and continue to make greater contributions to it.

Wang Shechang retrospected the deep relations between Sinomach-he and Southwest Aluminium in the high-end aluminium alloy production lines from new production lines, revamping and upgrading lines, and new technological process research and development in the aspects of aluminium plate, sheet, foil, pipe, rod and profiles. He said that Sino-heavymach will establish a specialized team for this project so as to make well organization in design, construction, and implementation, and exert the advantages of Erzhong manufacturing capabilities, and deliver the project on time with high quality. Meanwhile, Sinomach-he will continue to provide advanced technical equipment and superb technical services, jointly foster and promote new quality productivity, and achieve high-quality development.

Jiang Tao emphasized in his speech that Erzhong will seize this manufacturing opportunity firmly to supply this world's first largest press, try best to tackle the difficulties and challenges during the manufacturing process, organize an professional team, allocate adequate resources, and strive to build-up a high-quality project with safety, excellence, greening and efficiency.

Qiu Mingjun issued the letters of appointment to project team, and advocated that all involved parties shall collaborate closely to ensure the effective execution of project. The scientific research experts and specialists shall leverage their technical strengths, take innovation as guideline, target to technical challenges, launch forward-looking breakthroughs, and promote technological leadership.

Fan Yulin, Director of Forging Engineering Division of Sino-heavymach, made a statement on behalf of project team. He expressed that he would lead team to live up to expectations, work hard to overcome difficulties, and deliver a satisfactory answer to Southwest Aluminium.

After that, under the joint witness of top management at all levels of both sides and on-site personnel, the kick-off ceremony was held, which marked that the project officially entered into the implementation stage, and the two sides took another solid step on the journey of promoting the project.
