Recently, China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Sino-heavymach for short) Plate and Strip Finishing and Processing Research Institute of Steel Rolling Division has completed the Recoiling Mill Revamping Project for Guangzhou JFE Steel Sheet Company Co., Ltd (GJSS for short). GJSS held a completion ceremony for the Recoiling Revamping Project, and the Start Meeting for the Recoiling Integration Control Center. He Bo, Deputy Managing Director, Zhang Kangwu, Deputy Chief Engineer from Sino-heavymach, Song Jianxin, Managing Director, Hiroyuki Yajima, Deputy Managing Director from GJSS, Chen Jian, Deputy Managing Director from Shanghai Baosight Software Co., Ltd. (Baosight for short), and Zhang Xiangwei, Managing Director from Guangzhou Industrial Service & Management Co., Ltd. (GISM for short) attended above-mentioned activities.

During this meeting, He Bo expressed the appreciation to GJSS for their trust and project opportunity.He said that over the past two decades, both sides have been working hand-in-hand to help each other and grow together, and on the basis of the profound cooperation and friendship, both parties have witnessed and promoted the growth and change of China steel industry. Sino-heavymach hoped that this cooperation would be a new opportunity to further assist the innovative development of GJSS, and both would continue to work together to advance the new development of the steel industry in the era of digital intelligence.

This revamping project includes two lines of 2# Tension Leveling Line and 3# Splitting Line, both of which are designed with advanced technologies. The machine visual technology has been adopted, which applies intelligent image processing to the field of industrial automation, so as to perform contactless inspection and measurement, detect defects of the sheet and strip, carry out automatic analysis and decision-making, which is the first groundbreaking application in the finishing production line featured with high unmanned, automation and intelligence.

These units have been achieved the automation functions in the process of coil transferring, coil loading, paying-off,edge trimming, edge chopping, splitting, sampling, coil unloading, etc., and employed the intelligent image recognition technology, AI analysis technology, and other advanced technologies to realize the intelligentization of judging, monitoring, feedback and processing, which significantly improves the efficiency of the operators, and the production quality and stability of the automobile exterior plate.

As an important part of intelligent manufacturing, the revamping of production line integration control center is targeted to realize the centralized control, real-time monitoring and intelligent decision-making of the production process through the introduction of a new generation of information technology, big database, intelligent equipment and other means, so as to improve the overall efficiency of the production line. The successful revamping of the finishing line centralized control room not only improves the automation level and control capability of the production line, but also greatly upgrades the production efficiency and product quality, and realizes the centralized control, real-time monitoring and intelligent decision-making of the production process.

This revamping project will be as an important step for GJSS recoiling unit to move towards intelligence and high efficiency, will be a powerful measure to enhance labour productivity, improve product quality and broaden the function of the unit, also a key approach to reduce operational risks and improve the working environment of the operators, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent enhancement of production capacity, improving of product quality, and meeting the market demand. Sino-heavymach will use this revamping project to work hand in hand with GJSS, and jointly write a more brilliant chapter in China and world steel industry.
