【World Record】Sino-heavymach’s Φ13.5m Cylindrical Steel-making Flue Gas Electrical Dust Removal Equipment won 2024 Heavy Machinery World Record Scientific and Technological Achievement Recognition

    On December 6, 2024, China Heavy Machinery Industry Association (CHMIA) released the recognition results of the scientific and technological achievements of the heavy machinery world record in 2024. The Φ13.5m Cylindrical Steel-making Flue Gas Electrical Dust Removal Equipment was recognized as the world largest diameter cylindrical steel-making flue gas equipment electrical dust removal, which is designed and supplied by China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Sino-heavymach).

The scientific and technological achievements of heavy machinery world record refers to the key technologies recognized by CHMIA through independent innovation or collaborative innovation, reaching or exceeding the international advanced level, of which at least one key technical index has created and maintained the world record of scientific and technological achievements to the similar products as of the recognition date. In 2024, only 10 projects in the country have been recognized as the scientific and technological achievements of heavy machinery world record.

In order to achieve ultra-clean treatment of large converter steel-making flue gas and its resource recycling, and effectively reduce carbon emissions of converter steel-making flue gas, Sino-heavymach has invented a new flue gas treatment process, and developed a number of new equipment for the widely used large converter steel-making conditions with more than 200 tons capacity in China, and several innovative key technologies have solved a series of problems in large converter steel-making. The project adopts many core technologies, such as Φ13.5m ultra-large cylindrical dust removal equipment, constant pressure water supply technology of multi-functional intelligent mist spray dust removal cooler and constant frequency pump, and flexible regulating equipment with mist spray precision control technology, to thoroughly address the difficulties to achieve stable ultra-clean emission of primary gas in large converter. It is an ultra-clean carbon reduction treatment system composed of matured process, technology, and equipment.

After the equipment is put into operation, it could ensure that the emission of flue gas dust in the whole smelting process can be lower than 10mg/Nm3, which is in line with the ultra-low emission standard of flue gas dust in China's iron and steel industry, achieving the breakthrough in key technologies such as ultra-clean treatment of flue gas in China's large converter steel-making and its resource recovery, and boostingChina international competitiveness of ultra-low emission purification and recovery of large-scale converter steel-making flue gas. It will provide technical and equipment support for developing the flue gas ultra-clean treatment system inChina metallurgical environmental protection, even inthe world metallurgical environmental protection.

Sino-heavymach is the earliest research and development companyin China in the aspect of converter gas dry purification and recovery technology, and the technological responsible organization of state  converter gas dry purification and recovery system. In terms of converter gas dry purification and recovery technology, Sino-heavymach has obtained some inventions and utility model patents, and successfully issued many national industry standards, and the "large-scale steel converter primary gas ultra-clean emission equipment system and its application technology" was awarded the "Top Ten Leading Green Low-carbon Events in Year of 2023 Domestic Steel Industry". This time, the recognition of the scientific and technological achievements of the heavy machinery world record in 2024 is of great significance for enhancing the influence of Sino-heavymach in the field of this technology, promoting the advancement of China's environmental protection cause, contributing to the high-end, intelligent and green development of the heavy machinery industry, and accelerating the formation of new quality productivity in China.
