China National Heavy Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Sino-heavymach for short) and Chinalco Southwest Aluminium (Group) Co., Ltd. (Southwest Aluminium for short) held the signing ceremony of 250MN double-action direct extrusion press equipment and its handling system.

On December 12, 2024, Sino-heavymach and Southwest Aluminium held the signing ceremony of 250MN double-action direct extrusion press equipment and its handling system. This marked the official launch of the world’s largest double-action AL extrusion project - Southwest Aluminum large-scale aluminium alloy extrusion material construction project.

Han Xiaojun, Chairman of Sinomach-he, Li Yong, Chairman of Southwest Aluminum together witnessed the signing and delivered a speech. Yang Lu, Deputy Managing Director of Southwest Aluminum, and Qiu Mingjun, Managing Director of Sino-heavymach jointly signed the equipment purchase contract.

Li Yong looked back on the cooperation relations between Sino-heavymach and Southwest Aluminum and expressed gratitude for the strong support given by Sino-heavymach to Southwest Aluminum.

Li Yong pointed out that the large size aluminum alloy extrusion project is one of the 100 Projects of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. It is not only the inevitable demand for high-quality development of Southwest Aluminum, but also a vivid practice of actively responding to national policies.

Han Xiaojun thanked Southwest Aluminum for its full trust and strong support for Sinomach-he and Sino-heavymach.

Han Xiaojun pointed out that this project is another key project to serve the national major strategy and demand, and is also another important milestone for two sides to deepen cooperation and build a Pillar of the Great Power, and will become the world's largest double-action aluminum extrusion press after completion of the project.

Han Xiaojun said that Sinomach-he will give full play to the collaborative advantages, share superior resources, gather strength to tackle key problems, with leading technology, quality, cost, and service, to complete the project with high quality and build the project as an industry benchmark. Sinomach-he will take this opportunity to deepen cooperation in various fields between two sides, and work together to expand a new chapter of win-win cooperation.

Qiu Mingjun said in his speech that Sino-heavymach will take active measures to ensure the smooth progress of the project. First, Sino-heavymach will set up a project team to create an efficient collaborative “combat cluster”. Sino-heavymach will set up a professional and experienced team to strengthen the coordination and management of the whole life cycle of the project. The second is to draw up “elite soldiers and strong generals” to form top trumps for technical research. It will bring together the wisdom and strength of all parties to provide solid technical support and intellectual guarantee for the smooth implementation of the project.

Yang Lu pointed out that this signing showed Southwest Aluminum to implement 100 Projects of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and stressed that the whole company should work together to promote the construction of large-scale aluminum alloy extrusion project successfully completed and put into operation.

Yang Lu and Qiu Mingjun signed equipment procurement contracts on behalf of Southwest Aluminum and Sino-heavymach respectively.
